Molding the Maker

Sam Zitin is a Jewish Youth Professional living and working in St. Louis Missouri.  He discovered his passion for woodturning with the intent solely to make gifts for friends.  At one of his friend's prodding he entered into the jury process for his first art show and was accepted, the rest as they say is history.

All products sold on this site are produced on a lathe by a process known as woodturning (or simply turning).  A piece of raw material is mounted to the lathe and spun at high speeds (up to 4000 rpms) and then shaped and carved by hand using a variety of chisels, scrapers and gouges.  The pieces are then sanded, finished and polished.

Many different materials can be machined on the lathe, including common, rare, exotic and even historic woods, acrylics, resins and more.

Sam is particularly fond of making Yads, pens and wine stoppers and gets a thrill from working with wood/resin hybrid blanks.
